The WHEI Intercontinental Championship is a professional wrestling championship created and promoted by War Hawks Entertainment Inc. for the Raw brand. It is one of two secondary championships for WHEI's roster. Alongside the WHEI United States Championship on the SmackDown brand. The current champion is R-Truth '12 who is in his first reign.
The championship was created in season one to be the secondary championship for the War Hawks' Raw brand to supplement the United States and Zodiac titles. Generally contested in the mid card on shows, it has main evented Raw a few times as it is the second oldest championship in WWE.
While in real life the title started out on the SmackDown brand following the reintroduction of the brand split in 2016 before being moved to Raw in 2017, the title has been the secondary championship for the War Hawks Raw brand since season one.
The title was brought to the Raw brand during the season one draft after it was decided that the brand split would be reinstated for the universe mode. Since the inception of the War Hawks universe mode it has been the secondary championship for the Raw brand throughout all 3 seasons.
Championship Belt design Edit
Juggernaut originally went with the 90's yellow strap version of the classic Intercontinental Championship as he liked the look of it and felt it gave it a unique look. This changed in season 2 when he went back to using the crrent design to stay in line with real life.
Unlike the world titles, this championship has a nameplate instead of removable sideplates. This was done to keep the titles from all looking the same and accuse them of being lazy with their title designs.
